You know that moment when you stumble upon a gorgeous painting that you haven't seen before? It happened to me today and I immediately felt like sharing this lovely piece of art with everyone.

Which one do you prefer? Because at least I'm having hard time to choose!
I personally prefer the portrait "Lady with her son" :) maybe because it seems a little more intimate. :)
ReplyDeleteYes! The painting of Marie Antoinette is clearly more detailed (and obviously more expensive, too) but I'm also starting to lean towards preferring the first painting! :)

ReplyDeleteI like the first one best, too. :-) The more intimate style of the portrait is one of my very favorite poses anyway, but I prefer that outfit too! The ribbon is gorgeous (and is that ruched trim on the dress? I really like that!) and I like her hairstyle more too. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou know, I actually didn't notice this at first, but I believe the child is playing with the earring and now I think it's quite a sweet way to portray the boy. It makes me smile to think he must have actually kept doing that, being unable to sit still with his mom for the portrait. :)
DeleteThe first painting! I love the hair on the lady in the first painting more, I love her big pearl drop earrings, and her waist ribbon has such a beautiful design on it.

DeleteThe second for me! It's hard to see without zooming but the outfit Marie Antoinette is wearing is super intricate. I love how she wears that more fitter dress over a higher necked loose chemise dress. I love that layering effect so much that I very much want to try it myself one day.

Look, you're the first to vote for the painting of Marie Antoinette and her children :) I've also always loved it and the dress, especially the center front with the chemise showing from underneath. Though I never quite liked those large box pleats of the petticoat.
